Dyson Daniels Atlanta Hawks Contract Extension

ATLANTA, Georgia — The Atlanta Hawks have signed guard Dyson Daniels to a four-year contract extension worth $100 million, the team announced Monday. The deal comes after Daniels’ standout performance last season, where he was named the NBA‘s Most Improved Player.

This extension represents a significant commitment from the Hawks, who see Daniels as a key player for their future. Hawks general manager Onsi Saleh expressed enthusiasm about the new deal, stating, “We are beyond thrilled to reach a long-term deal with Dyson, and we are excited to watch him continue to grow with our group.”

During the 2024-25 season, Daniels led the league with an average of 3.01 steals per game, the most any player has achieved since Alvin Robertson in 1990-91. He also recorded a total of 229 steals, a franchise record for the Hawks. His efforts earned him a spot on the All-Defensive First Team, alongside a second-place finish in the Defensive Player of the Year voting.

Daniels, who was drafted eighth overall by the New Orleans Pelicans in 2022, joined the Hawks in a trade that sent All-Star guard Dejounte Murray to New Orleans. Since joining Atlanta, he has averaged 14.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game, contributing significantly to the team’s defense.

Last season, Daniels showcased improvement in scoring, increasing his average from 5.8 points per game to 14.1. The 22-year-old Australian has become an essential part of the Hawks’ roster, pairing effectively with star point guard Trae Young.

As the Hawks lock in Daniels for the coming years, fans and analysts alike look forward to seeing how he will evolve in his role and contribute to the team’s success in the NBA.
