Edmonton Police Charge Five in Major Drug Seizure Case

EDMONTON, Alberta — Five suspects are facing multiple charges following a year-long investigation into a significant drug seizure in Edmonton. On April 30, 2024, Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) executed a search warrant at a residence in the Lewis Estates neighborhood and seized 27 kilograms of cocaine and five kilograms of MDMA, valued at approximately $3 million.
The seizure marks the largest drug bust conducted by ALERT in Edmonton’s history. Following the investigation initiated after the drug seizure, ALERT made significant progress. “Our investigative team was able to conduct a thorough investigation and identify the suspects responsible,” said Insp. Angela Kemp in a news release.
On April 21, 2025, police arrested the five suspects, alleging their involvement with an organized crime group trafficking drugs in Edmonton, Grande Prairie, and Saskatchewan. The suspects range in age from 27 to 45 years old and include Jeffrey Vil, 45, Tommy Szeto, 35, Tayler Fraser, 27, Christian Barwise, 35, and Adrian De Guzman, 27.
Charges against the suspects vary but include participation in criminal organization activities, conspiracy to traffic drugs, drug trafficking, laundering proceeds of crime, and possession of a prohibited device. All five suspects were released from custody and are set to appear in court on May 22, 2025.
