EFF Manifesto Outlines Comprehensive Plan for South African Defence Force
Julius Malema‘s Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party has revealed an extensive 260-page elections manifesto with detailed plans for various sectors in South Africa, including defence. The manifesto, aimed at advancing the interests and sovereignty of the nation, outlines a strategic approach to the South African National Defence Force (SANDF).
The EFF government, according to the manifesto, emphasizes the need for a strong military to protect the country from external threats. It highlights plans to reform the SANDF, increase the defence budget, and enhance collaboration with countries like China and Russia for knowledge transfer and technological exchange.
Key points in the manifesto include modernizing the SANDF, improving remuneration and training of military personnel, and supporting the local defence industry. The EFF also commits to bailing out and revitalizing entities like Denel and Armscor for local military equipment manufacturing.
Additionally, the manifesto proposes compulsory military training for South African citizens after matriculation and enhancing the SANDF’s capabilities to participate in regional and international peacekeeping missions.
On the crime-fighting front, the EFF manifesto details plans to strengthen law enforcement, increase police visibility, and fight issues like gender-based violence and drug trafficking. The party aims to employ more police officers, implement technology-driven crime solutions, and improve community policing.
The manifesto also addresses specific challenges such as racism, stock theft in rural areas, and harsher penalties for crimes like rhino poaching and gender-based violence. It advocates for a joint operational day among law enforcement agencies to address illegal firearms and other criminal activities.
