Elic Ayomanor Scores First NFL Touchdown for Titans

Nashville, TN — Former Stanford standout Elic Ayomanor marked a significant milestone in his NFL career during Week 2 of the 2025 season. On Sunday, he caught his first NFL touchdown during the Tennessee Titans‘ game against the Los Angeles Rams.
The touchdown came with just 45 seconds left in the first half as the Titans trailed 10-3. Rookie quarterback Cam Ward, the No. 1 overall pick from this year’s NFL Draft, took the shotgun snap and rolled out to his right. Despite the pressure, Ward executed a difficult cross-body throw to find Ayomanor, who was crossing into the end zone. This play allowed the Titans to tie the game at 10-10.
Earlier in the game, Ayomanor showcased his skills with a memorable one-handed catch along the right sideline, setting up a potential scoring opportunity for the Titans. At halftime, he led all Titans players in receiving with four catches for 56 yards, averaging 14 yards per catch.
Originally projected to be a role player at the beginning of his professional career, Ayomanor impressed with a strong training camp and preseason, prompting a rapid rise on the team’s depth chart. He entered the regular season as a starting wide receiver, joining star players like Calvin Ridley and Tyler Lockett, quickly becoming a favorite target for Ward.
The Titans are focusing on rebuilding their team, aiming to rely heavily on young talents like Ayomanor as they transition into a new era following Ward’s selection as the top draft pick. The franchise hopes this new core can steer them back into playoff contention.
At Stanford, Ayomanor made his mark quickly, despite missing his freshman year due to injury. In 2023, he recorded 62 receptions for 1,013 yards and six touchdowns. The following season, he added 63 receptions for 831 yards and six touchdowns, showing consistent improvement.
If Ayomanor continues his successful trajectory in the NFL, the Titans could see a positive turn in their fortunes sooner rather than later.
