Ella Toone Manchester United Celebrating Goal Wsl

LONDON, ENGLAND

Manchester United’s Ella Toone has been named the Barclays Women’s Super League Player of the Month, highlighting her exceptional performances in January. Toone’s prolific scoring streak, combined with impressive wins for her club, propelled her to the coveted award.

Toone’s January was nothing short of remarkable. She netted four goals in Manchester United’s high-scoring 4-2 victory against Manchester City. Two of her goals stemmed from opportunistic plays, showcasing her clinical finishing. Her first goal was a deft flick over City goalkeeper Khiara Keating, and later, she capitalized on defensive errors to score two more.

The England international continued her impressive form, scoring the opening goal in United’s 3-0 victory against Brighton and Hove Albion.

This award marks Toone’s second WSL Player of the Month title, her first coming in December 2021.

Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor also received an award, securing her third Manager of the Month accolade this season. Bompastor guided her team to impressive victories against West Ham United and Arsenal, demonstrating her tactical prowess. Chelsea’s victory against Arsenal, played in front of a record-breaking 34,302 fans at Stamford Bridge, cemented their position as title contenders.

Vivianne Miedema, the WSL’s all-time leading goalscorer, claimed the Goal of the Month award for her thunderous strike against Aston Villa. Her powerful shot soared into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper helpless.
