NEW YORK, NY — Elon Musk publicly expressed regret for some of his posts about President Donald Trump after a recent clash on social media.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Musk wrote early Wednesday, “I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far.” This message comes after a series of critical statements directed at Trump, including accusations that linked the president to the criminal activities of Jeffrey Epstein.

The tension escalated when Musk suggested Trump should be impeached and criticized him for not acknowledging Musk’s support during the election. The two have had a complicated relationship, with Musk previously being a strong supporter of Trump.

The feud intensified after Musk stated that Trump would struggle to win the 2024 election without his backing. Trump shot back that Tesla was “having a hard time” and that Musk had “worn thin” with his behavior.

Musk’s retraction appears to signal a desire to mend fences, as sources close to him told Reuters his anger towards Trump had lessened. In a podcast earlier this week, Musk mentioned he harbored “no hard feelings” towards the president.

It remains unclear which posts Musk specifically regrets, but his decision to apologize indicates a significant shift in his stance. The fallout from their conflict has drawn public attention, with many speculating that Musk’s change of heart might relate to the impact of his statements on his relationship with Trump’s base.

As of now, Trump has not publicly responded to Musk’s recent announcement.
