Elon Musk Claims Gender-Affirming Care ‘Killed’ His Daughter

In a recent interview with psychologist and conservative commentator Jordan Peterson, Tesla CEO Elon Musk made controversial remarks about his estranged transgender daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson. Musk claimed that gender-affirming care led to the ‘death’ of his son, whom he referred to using his birth name.

Musk described gender-reassignment surgery as ‘child mutilation and sterilization,’ expressing that he was ‘tricked’ into supporting Wilson’s transition during the pandemic. He mentioned that at the time, he was concerned about Wilson’s mental health, as others indicated she might be at risk of suicide.

‘This was really before I had any understanding of what was going on,’ Musk said. He claimed that decisions were made without his full comprehension, as he felt pressured with the ongoing confusion of COVID-19.

According to Musk, the process of gender-affirming care is being given to children who are ‘far below the age of consent’. He agreed with Peterson on the view that promoting such procedures for minors is ‘incredibly evil’.

Musk recalled that he thought he was signing documents related to medical care, not understanding their implications. He expressed regret, stating, ‘I lost my son, essentially.’ He characterized this loss with the term ‘deadnaming’, asserting that it signifies the death of his son.

These comments come after Musk’s recent backlash against California‘s SAFETY Act, which restricts school policies on notifying parents if their child identifies as transgender. Musk has been remarked upon for shifting towards right-wing ideologies over recent years.

In a notable legal move, Wilson filed for a name change and a new birth certificate last year, indicating her desire to dissociate from her father. Musk has attributed the rift in their relationship to Wilson’s progressive education in Los Angeles.
