KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Emily Ann Roberts has signed her first major record deal with RECORDS/Sony Music Nashville on August 27, 2025. The 27-year-old Knoxville native released her debut EP, “Memory Lane,” on October 3, 2025, marking a significant milestone in her decade-long journey as an independent artist.

Roberts, who built her career in the independent music scene, has shared stages with industry giants such as Blake Shelton and Cody Johnson. Her song, “Can’t Hide Country,” has garnered 78 million streams, but she sought greater support for her evolving musical vision.

“This move feels transformational for me, and I credit my work ethic for this opportunity,” Roberts said in interviews. “For the first time, I have a huge team around me.” She expressed her excitement about the potential for growth and visibility with Sony’s resources.

“For so long in Nashville, I felt like girls in pop music could be girly, but girls in country music had to be one of the guys. I wanted to lean into that tenderness,” she noted when talking about the themes explored in her music, which include heartbreak, love, defiance, and hard work.

The release date of “Memory Lane” coincided with Taylor Swift‘s re-release of “Midnights,” but Roberts noted that she is confident in the uniqueness of her project. The six-track EP showcases a creative evolution with varying sounds and rich storytelling. The title track opens with wistful reflection, while other songs like “Jack & Jill Daniels” offer witty storytelling, and “Bus to Augusta” features gothic narratives.

Roberts emphasized her commitment to femininity throughout the EP, showcasing stories inspired by her childhood and personal experiences. “Memory Lane” serves as both a personal narrative and an exploration of wider themes of womanhood.

Roberts first gained national attention on Season 9 of “The Voice” in 2015, making it to the finals as part of Team Blake Shelton. This experience helped shape her performance skills and boosted her confidence. “It showed me what I was capable of,” she reflected on her time on the show.

Now, with Sony Nashville backing her, Roberts expects to hear her music on radio stations soon. “So hopefully folks will be hearing me on the radio really soon,” she told WVLT News in October. Additionally, she announced European tour dates for the C2C Festival in March 2026.

Most importantly, Roberts retains creative control over her artistry. “If there is any new sound or style, it’s because it was my idea,” she stated. The Sony deal is meant to enhance rather than limit her vision, allowing her to explore new musical territories while honoring her East Tennessee roots.

With her authentic country credibility and a loyal fanbase, Emily Ann Roberts is poised for superstardom, and the “Memory Lane” EP is viewed as a potential breakthrough in her career.
