Emily Pritchard Returns Home as KY3 Co-Anchor in 2025

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) — KY3 News has announced the hiring of veteran television anchor Emily Pritchard to co-anchor the noon and 6 p.m. newscasts alongside Steve Grant, beginning July 28, 2025. Pritchard, a Missouri native, will be replacing long-time anchor Lisa Rose, who is retiring after serving 41 years.
“I’m so excited to be coming home,” Pritchard said in a news release. “This is a dream opportunity for me to join the talented team at KY3 and to bring my family back to Missouri, where this magical journey began for me.”
Pritchard grew up in Waynesville, Missouri, and graduated from Waynesville High School and the University of Missouri. “This is my home and the community that shaped me,” she added. “There is something truly special about coming back to where my curiosity about the world began. I grew up watching KY3 and had my first taste of journalism in my classes at Waynesville High School.”
With over 15 years of experience in journalism, Pritchard has worked at several prominent news stations, including KPNX (NBC) in Phoenix, WHDH in Boston, and KY3’s sister station KMOV (CBS) in St. Louis. Her coverage spans significant events such as political elections, protests, severe weather, and consumer issues.
Pritchard noted her passion for storytelling, particularly highlighting veterans’ experiences, which is significant to her given her upbringing near Fort Leonard Wood. “Some of my favorite stories to share have focused on veterans,” she said. Her achievements include winning a Rocky Mountain Regional Emmy Award for her coverage leading up to the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.
Her background in community engagement is complemented by her early love for sports, including long-standing support for the Missouri State Lady Bears and St. Louis Cardinals. Pritchard has also covered major sports events, such as the Notre Dame football team’s National Championship appearance and the St. Louis Blues’ Stanley Cup win in 2019.
Pritchard is looking forward to making Springfield her home with her husband Brian, their five-month-old daughter Quinn, and their German Shepherd/Husky mix named Wayne. “I am counting down the minutes until I can first say the words, ‘KY3, the Place to Be,’” she said, reflecting on her childhood memories of being captivated by the news station.
KY3 General Manager Brian McDonough expressed enthusiasm about Pritchard’s return, stating, “We are excited and honored to have someone with Emily’s reputation work for us at KY3. We look forward to her sharing her knowledge and hard work with the newsroom.”
Pritchard will start appearing in various newscasts and promotions in the lead-up to her official role in 2025. Lisa Rose’s final newscast will take place on July 25, during KY3 News at 6 p.m. McDonough remarked, “While we will sorely miss Lisa Rose in the newsroom, we are excited about this new phase we are entering with Emily. She will continue KY3’s legacy of excellence and commitment to the community.”
