Eminem Announces Grandparenthood in Emotional Music Video
In a poignant announcement, renowned rapper Eminem revealed he is set to become a grandfather. The news broke in the music video for his new single “Temporary,” which was released on October 3, 2024. The video features an emotional moment where Eminem’s daughter, Hailie Jade, presents him with a Detroit Lions jersey emblazoned with the word “Grandpa” and accompanied by sonogram photos, marking the announcement of her pregnancy.
The song “Temporary” is part of Eminem’s latest album, “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De GrĂ¢ce),” and is dedicated to Hailie. The video includes personal footage of Eminem and Hailie shared over the years, as well as scenes from her wedding in May to Evan McClintock. Eminem is seen tearfully witnessing his daughter in her wedding dress, capturing family moments for fans.
Hailie Jade, aged 28, celebrated her pregnancy with husband Evan McClintock through an Instagram post captioned, “Mom & Dad est. 2025.” The couple met in 2016 at Michigan State University and have been together for eight years, recently marrying in a ceremony attended by friends and family.
The song “Temporary,” featuring Skylar Grey, is one of two tracks on the album dedicated to Eminem’s children. Another track, “Somebody Save Me,” featuring Jelly Roll, is an introspective apology to his children, reflecting on his past and perceived shortcomings as a parent. Eminem’s 12th album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, recently re-entered the top 10 following the release of an “Expanded Mourner’s Edition.”
Eminem, who shares Hailie with his ex-wife Kimberly Anne Scott, is also a father to Alaina, age 31, and Stevie, age 22.
