Emmy Nominated Actor Doug Sheehan Remembered For Iconic Tv Roles

Iconic television actor, Doug Sheehan, known for his roles in various classic TV shows, has passed away at his home in Big Horn, Wyoming.

Starting his career with a 1978 appearance on Charlie’s Angels, Sheehan’s breakout role came as lawyer Joe Kelly on the popular soap opera General Hospital.

Transitioning to an Emmy-nominated role, he became a fan-favorite during his 205-episode run on the show, notably supporting characters like Luke and Laura during the ‘Camelot’ era.

Sheehan then moved on to a significant role in the Dallas spinoff Knots Landing, portraying the character Ben Gibson, a freelance reporter and ex-C.I.A. operative.

His career continued with appearances on hit shows like Cheers, MacGyver, and Columbo, showcasing his versatility across different genres.

He later took on a main role in the short-lived NBC series Day by Day, starring alongside notable names like Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Thora Birch.

In the 90s, Sheehan became known for his TV dad roles, playing Cher Horowitz’s father in Clueless and Sabrina Spellman’s father in Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

While primarily known for his TV work, Sheehan also appeared in movies like 10, Victor/Victoria, and Cops N Roberts, showing his range as an actor.

Aside from his career, Sheehan was also an avid polo player, showcasing his passion for sports outside of acting.

Survived by his wife, Cate, Sheehan leaves behind a lasting legacy in the entertainment industry with his memorable performances and contributions to television.
