The renowned dancer, Gorka Márquez, has recently shared an emotional moment involving his family while away participating in a dance competition. Márquez, who is away from his family as he competes on a popular BBC dance contest, expressed that his “heart melted” after an update regarding his daughter, Mia.

Currently, Gorka Márquez is in Glasgow for rehearsals with his dance partner, Dr. Punam Krishan, a participant from Morning Live. They dedicate their weeks to intensive training before traveling to London for the live performances at the weekend. Márquez has commented on the difficulty of being away from his fiancée Gemma Atkinson and their children, Mia and Thiago, acknowledging that despite the challenges, his work is ultimately for their benefit.

In a video response during a recent Q&A session, Márquez addressed when he would next see his family. He stated, “I’ve been asked this a few times and the answer is, I don’t 100% know when but I know it’ll be soon because they’re having half term and I know I’ll see them that week.” He also highlighted the logistical challenges of visiting home briefly and its potential impact on his children’s routine.

This weekend, Gemma Atkinson shared a noteworthy moment about their daughter, Mia, who has shown interest in football. In a social media post, Atkinson said, “Mia’s decided she wants to start football lessons. I said, ‘Brilliant! You could be a future Lioness!’ To which she replied, ‘Mum, I’d play for Spain!'” Gorka, visibly moved by his daughter’s ambitions, reshared the post with teary-eye emojis and red love hearts, adding, “My heart melts.”

Márquez has previously discussed the emotional struggle of being away from his children, stating that his efforts in dance are driven by the pride and joy his family feels seeing him perform. “Mia goes, ‘I miss Papa but I want to see him on Strictly!’ So that’s very reassuring that I know what I’m doing and I’m doing it for them,” he shared, acknowledging the difficult balance faced by many parents in similar situations.
