The Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics at Fernandez Hospital, in collaboration with the India Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (IAPEN), Telangana Chapter, recently organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program in Hyderabad.

The CME, titled “PCOS Management: From Diagnosis to Well-Being: Recent Updates,” aimed to enhance healthcare professionals’ understanding of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).

With a focus on hormonal imbalances, nutrient management, and exercise strategies to improve insulin sensitivity in PCOS patients, the event featured insights from a multidisciplinary team of experts.

Attended by approximately 100-120 dietetic professionals, including practicing dietitians from Hyderabad and Secunderabad, nutrition faculty, students, and dietetic interns, the CME provided a platform for discussions and learning.

Dr. Latha Sashi, Chief Dietitian & HOD at Fernandez Hospital, expressed delight in partnering with IAPEN for the 2024 CME, highlighting the collaboration with experts in obstetrics, gynecology, physiotherapy, and critical care from various institutes in the twin cities.

Experts at the CME addressed recent updates in PCOS diagnosis, nutritional management, lifestyle modifications, and the impact of overall well-being on PCOS management, providing evidence-based knowledge and practical insights for healthcare professionals.

According to a report by the Deccan Chronicle covering the event, the CME’s discussions centered on comprehensive approaches to managing PCOS, shedding light on the latest advancements and best practices in the field.
