Entergy Plans Power Outage for Equipment Upgrades in New Orleans

Livingston Parish, La. — Some Entergy New Orleans customers will experience a planned power outage expected to last up to seven hours on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. The outage is intended for equipment upgrades, as stated in notices sent to affected homes.
Beau Tidwell, an Entergy spokesperson, did not disclose specific outage locations or the number of customers affected, citing safety reasons. He noted that customers had been informed through mail drop and their preferred communication methods.
“We work diligently with commercial customers to schedule these outages so they are least disruptive to businesses and schools, but the work is necessary to upgrade and strengthen the grid,” Tidwell said.
The planned outage will take place from approximately 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., although it may not last the full duration. If weather conditions are unfavorable, the work could be postponed, according to the company’s notification flier. “Due to the nature of emergencies, it may be difficult to notify you timely in advance of a postponement,” the flier adds.
In preparation for the outage, Entergy recommends that affected residents turn off air conditioners, computers, and other large appliances.
