Soccer Aid For Unicef Surpasses £100m Fundraising Milestone At Stamford Bridge Event

The renowned charity football event, Soccer Aid for UNICEF, has achieved a monumental milestone by surpassing £100 million in fundraising since its inception. The latest event, held at the iconic Stamford Bridge in London, garnered a staggering £15 million in donations, marking another successful year for the initiative.

Leading the fundraising efforts was the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, which generously matched donations up to £4 million. This substantial sum will be directed towards UNICEF’s vital Child Nutrition Fund, supporting initiatives that aim to protect children around the world from diseases, malnutrition, and mental health challenges.

This year’s contributions will play a crucial role in UNICEF’s emergency responses in troubled regions such as Gaza, Sudan, and Ukraine, ensuring that children receive the necessary support to thrive even in the face of adversity, including the provision of vaccines to combat common childhood illnesses like measles.

Each year, Soccer Aid brings together a star-studded England team comprising celebrities and former footballers against a formidable Soccer Aid World XI. The 2024 edition saw Team England emerge victorious after a captivating match that ended in a 6-3 scoreline, with notable participants including the legendary Usain Bolt and football sensation Jill Scott.

Expressing his gratitude for the overwhelming support, UNICEF UK Chief Executive Jon Sparkes commended the players and spectators for their unwavering dedication to the cause. He highlighted the tremendous impact of the £100 million milestone, emphasizing the importance of continuing to raise funds for children in need across the globe.

Co-creator of Soccer Aid and renowned singer Robbie Williams also shared his pride in the event’s success. Reflecting on the journey that began in 2006, Williams acknowledged the incredible achievement of surpassing the £100 million mark. He extended his heartfelt thanks to all participants and donors, underscoring the life-changing impact that their contributions will have on millions of children worldwide.

The resounding success of Soccer Aid for UNICEF 2024 underscores the unwavering commitment of its supporters to champion the rights of children and provide them with the opportunity to enjoy a happy, healthy childhood filled with play and laughter.
