Eva Longoria California Wildfire Donation 2025

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Actress and philanthropist Eva Longoria announced Monday a $1 million donation to support wildfire relief efforts in California, where three major fires have devastated communities, claimed 24 lives, and destroyed over 3,100 structures. The funds will be distributed through the Latino Community Foundation and the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund.

The donation comes from the Bezos Courage and Civility Award, which Longoria received in March 2024. The annual prize, funded by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, recognizes individuals making significant contributions to society. Longoria pledged to allocate the funds to charitable causes, with wildfire relief being her first major initiative.

Longoria emphasized the importance of supporting grassroots organizations deeply embedded in affected communities. “Both groups are partnering with front-line, grass-roots organizations that are deep in these communities and understand their needs,” she said in a social media post announcing the donation.

The Palisades, Eaton, and Hurst fires have burned more than 38,000 acres across Los Angeles County since they began nearly a week ago. The Eaton Fire, which started in Altadena, has been particularly destructive, displacing thousands of residents and destroying homes and businesses.

Longoria will discuss the donation further on Tuesday during her appearance on NBC’s ‘Jenna & Friends.’ She also plans to volunteer with Global Empowerment Mission and visit World Central Kitchen’s operations supporting Eaton Fire victims and first responders.

In addition to her wildfire relief efforts, Longoria has pledged to match $50,000 in donations to This Is About Humanity, a nonprofit supporting frontline workers, farmworkers, and families impacted by the fires. Her Eva Longoria Foundation, established in 2012, continues to provide educational programs, scholarships, and microloans to Latino women and girls.

The wildfires have highlighted the urgent need for both immediate aid and long-term recovery efforts. Longoria’s donation aims to address both, providing critical resources to those affected while supporting community rebuilding initiatives.
