Evacuations Ordered as Brush Fire Threatens Homes in Oakland
OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) — A four-alarm brush fire, which authorities have described as dangerously close to residential areas, has prompted evacuation orders in Oakland. The fire erupted near the intersection of Mountain Boulevard and Keller Avenue, in close proximity to the Oakland Zoo.
The Oakland Fire Department has released a video via social media platform X, capturing firefighters attempting to extinguish the fire near a home. The footage shows the front yard of the property charred and still smoldering.
According to fire officials, a minimum of four structures are currently “involved” in the blaze, suggesting the fire has affected or is threatening them.
In response to the escalating situation, at least 60 firefighters are on the ground battling the flames. Their efforts are aimed at containing the fire and mitigating further damage to properties in the area.
