Explosion Rocks Maui Resort, Multiple Injuries Reported

KAANAPALI, Hawaii — First responders treated several individuals for injuries resulting from an explosion at a Maui resort on Thursday evening. The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. at The Whaler on Kaanapali Beach, located at 2481 Kaanapali Parkway.
Video footage from a nearby webcam captured debris being propelled from the building’s structure, illustrating the severity of the explosion. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported, but images from the scene depict significant damage and emergency personnel attending to the injured.
The local police and fire departments are actively investigating the cause of the explosion. An official from the Maui Police Department stated, “We have a team on-site assessing the situation and gathering information.” Despite the magnitude of the event, authorities confirmed that no evacuations were necessary and have asserted that there is currently no ongoing threat to public safety.
