Fake News: Viral Image of Lord Ram on Burj Khalifa Debunked
An image of Lord Ram projected onto the Burj Khalifa building in Dubai has been circulating widely on social media platforms, claiming it to be a celebration of the recent consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. However, a fact-check has revealed that the viral image is fake and digitally altered.
The Burj Khalifa, one of the tallest buildings globally, has not been illuminated with a projection of Lord Ram. The viral photograph is a result of superimposing an image of Lord Ram onto a stock photo of the Burj Khalifa.
Multiple reliable sources have confirmed that no official reports or statements indicate that the Burj Khalifa was lit up with the image of Lord Ram in connection with the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Moreover, the official social media platforms of the Burj Khalifa, such as Twitter and Instagram, had no posts featuring the projection of Lord Ram on the building.
Upon conducting a reverse image search of the viral photo, it was discovered that the stock photo used in the manipulation closely resembles the viral image. The two images share identical lighting patterns on the building and its surroundings. However, the original stock photo does not depict any projection of Lord Ram.
The circulation of this fake image is not a new phenomenon. In April 2023, the same image went viral with similar claims, and it was similarly debunked by fact-checking organizations that exposed the digital manipulation.
It is crucial to distinguish facts from misinformation and be cautious when sharing images or news on social media platforms. In this case, the viral image of Lord Ram projected on the Burj Khalifa is falsified and misleading.
