Fast-Moving Fire Displaces Residents in East Dallas Condominium

DALLAS, Texas — A fast-moving fire gutted part of a condominium complex in East Dallas on Saturday, leaving several residents displaced.
Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) reported that units were dispatched at 2:42 p.m. after the first 911 call came in, with nearly 50 firefighters responding to the scene. Flames were first spotted coming from a top-floor balcony at The Gastonian, located at the corner of Gaston Avenue and N. Carroll. The blaze was declared extinguished at 3:56 p.m.
At one point during the response, a second alarm was requested, and firefighters evacuated the building to ensure everyone’s safety. Witness Stefan Nelson recounted returning home from a store to find his unit engulfed in flames.
“I’m just blessed that I’m alive. I’m here to see another day. So one step at a time, and I’m just going to figure it out,” said Nelson, who previously lost his home in a fire in Duncanville.
Another resident, Courtney Bryant, hurried home from work to rescue her French bulldog, Charles. Although her pet is safe, she reported that their home is now unlivable due to extensive smoke and water damage.
“I’m trying to hold it together, but at the end of the day, God has something better in store. It’ll work out,” Bryant stated.
DFR confirmed that all residents inside the complex escaped without injury, but two firefighters were taken to the hospital for minor issues and are expected to recover fully. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and the American Red Cross was on the scene to provide assistance to displaced residents.
