Fatal Collision on County Road 40 in Quinte West

A serious vehicular collision in Quinte West, Ontario, on the night of October 9, 2024, led to the death of one driver and left another hospitalized. The incident occurred at approximately 8:35 p.m. on County Road 40. Officers from the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to the scene following reports of the crash.

Both drivers involved in the collision were promptly transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance. Tragically, one driver succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, as confirmed by the OPP.

In response to the incident, County Road 40, which is also referred to as Wooler Road, was closed to traffic. Specifically, the roadway was inaccessible between Old Highway 2 and Telephone Road for the duration of the police investigation. It was subsequently reopened early Thursday morning.

The Technical Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Unit thoroughly examined the scene to understand the circumstances leading to the collision.
