The father of Molly Ticehurst, the woman allegedly murdered by her former boyfriend Daniel Billings, has expressed his frustration with the bail system after Billings, who was on bail for another matter, was arrested and charged with murder in Forbes, NSW.

Molly Ticehurst, a 28-year-old mother, was found dead in her home on Young Street, Forbes, prompting a swift arrest of Billings at a property in Fifield. Detective Inspector Jason Darcy from Central West Police District described the crime scene as “brutal” and offered condolences to the Ticehurst family.

Tony Ticehurst, Molly’s father, remembered his daughter as a beloved individual who was treasured by many. Speaking to 9News, he expressed both sorrow over her loss and rage at the fact that Billings had been granted bail despite previous incidents and an apprehended violence order.

Inspector Darcy confirmed that Billings had visited Molly Ticehurst’s workplace shortly before the tragic event, indicating a potential lead in the investigation. The authorities are actively exploring this line of inquiry along with other details surrounding the case.

Billings, who was refused bail, is set to appear at Orange Local Court for the charges of murder (DV) and contravening an apprehended violence order. The incident has left the community in shock, with concerns raised about the effectiveness of the justice system in safeguarding victims of domestic violence.

Molly Ticehurst’s young child, fortunately, was not in the home at the time of the incident and is reported to be safe. The tragic event has underscored the importance of ongoing efforts to support victims of domestic violence and hold perpetrators accountable.

Individuals with any relevant dashcam or CCTV footage of Young Street in Forbes or Fifield around the time of the incident are urged to contact local authorities or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 for further assistance in the investigation.
