Federal Government Declares Eid-el-Fitr Public Holidays
The Federal Government has designated Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9 and 10, 2024, as public holidays to commemorate the Eid-el-Fitr festival. This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, according to a statement released on Sunday by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Aishetu Ndayako.
Minister Tunji-Ojo extended his felicitations to all Muslims for the successful conclusion of the fasting period during the sacred month of Ramadan. He urged adherents to embrace and uphold values such as kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighborliness, and compassion, mirroring the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
In line with the declaration, Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9 and 10, 2024, have been officially set aside as public holidays across Nigeria to observe the Eid-el-Fitr celebration. This move by the Federal Government aims to allow Muslims in the nation to mark the auspicious occasion with their families and communities.
