Elizabethtown North Carolina Columbus Day Weekend

The Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is organizing a series of events for Columbus Day Weekend, set to take place between October 11 and 14, in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. Among the activities are bicycle tours, free concerts, and a BBQ competition featuring pitmasters from North and South Carolina.

On Friday, October 11, Elizabethtown will welcome over 1,000 bicyclists as they arrive on Hwy 701S, concluding their journey with an overnight camp at Town Hall and Ball Fields. This event is part of a larger seven-day bicycle tour showcasing the scenic beauty of rural North Carolina. Local businesses are encouraged to welcome the cyclists, and the public can cheer them on as they arrive.

Simultaneously, the 2nd Annual Pink Out event, featuring The Pink Slips Band, will commence at the Cape Fear Farmers Market. This free concert supports Breast Cancer Awareness and is sponsored by the Cape Fear Valley Hospital Foundation alongside several local businesses and organizations.

Saturday, October 12, will see the convergence of two popular annual events. The famous Grape Stomp, beginning at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast at 11 a.m., features music by the North Tower Band. A host of other attractions including food trucks, vendors, and free fishing will be available for attendees. Nearby, the 26th Annual Made in the Shade Car and Truck Show will take place, offering visitors a chance to peruse a display of classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles—all without an admission fee.

On Sunday, October 13, the inaugural BBQ competition will take place at Cape Fear Distillery. Sponsored by Smithfield Foods, the event will feature a friendly rivalry between North and South Carolina pitmasters. Patrons can sample various barbecue offerings and cast their vote for the best pork dishes. The event is priced at $20 for general admission, with VIP tickets available for $40, allowing early access and additional tastings.

Known as “Mother Nature’s Playground,” Bladen County offers visitors various parks and trails to explore during their stay. For accommodations, an assortment of options is available to guests planning to spend the weekend in the area.
