Firefighters Responding To Industrial Fire

Biwabik, Minnesota — Fire crews responded to a fire at the Dyno Nobel plant on Tuesday morning, March 18, around 10:45 a.m. The facility, which specializes in chemicals for the mining industry, posed safety concerns prompting swift action from local authorities.

The Northland Fire Wire reported that in response to the fire, officials ordered an evacuation of the area within a one-mile radius of the plant. Firefighters from Biwabik, Biwabik Township, Lakeland, and Fayal Township were dispatched to the scene, along with officers from the Gilbert Police Department, East Range Police, St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department, and the Minnesota State Patrol.

By approximately noon, the fire had been extinguished, and the public received the all-clear message. According to reports, the blaze was contained to an exhaust duct that had some wood material nearby, minimizing the risk of further damage.

No injuries were reported during the incident. Authorities remain vigilant, monitoring the situation to ensure that all safety protocols were followed and that the area is safe for return.
