Firefighter Response to 18-Wheeler Blaze on I-49 in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Firefighters rushed to extinguish an 18-wheeler fire on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at approximately 7:15 a.m. The incident occurred on I-49 South, near North Market Street.
The right lane on I-49 South, just before Doctor Martin Luther King Drive, has been blocked due to the blaze, causing significant traffic congestion that has extended to North Market Street.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire or whether there were any injuries involved. An investigation is currently in progress to uncover those details.
As responders worked to manage the situation, traffic was diverted, and the ramp was temporarily closed to assist with the removal of the burning vehicle.
