Firefighters Quickly Contain Brush Fire Near Golden Valley High School

CANYON COUNTRY, Calif. — Firefighters in L.A. County swiftly responded to a brush fire that ignited Monday morning near Golden Valley High School.
The fire broke out around 9:38 a.m. close to the intersection of Golden Valley Road and Robert C. Lee Parkway. Fire crews arrived five minutes later, according to Howard Tieu, a spokesperson for the L.A. County Fire Department.
At 9:45 a.m., firefighters reported that the blaze had grown to a quarter-acre in size, fueled by light to medium vegetation. Initial radio dispatch communications indicated that two fire engines were assigned to handle the situation, while air support and bulldozers were later canceled.
“No structures were threatened and fortunately, no injuries have been reported,” Tieu noted. Firefighter Geovanni Sanchez added that by 10:32 a.m., crews had successfully halted the fire’s progress and contained it to the quarter-acre area.
The fire reportedly started due to construction work in the vicinity, but further details on the cause remain under investigation.
