New Hampshire Flood Warning Heavy Rain

CONCORD, N.H. — A flood warning has been issued for several counties in New Hampshire due to ongoing heavy rainfall. The warning affects Cheshire, Sullivan, Merrimack, Hillsborough, and Rockingham counties and will remain in effect until noon on Saturday.

Forecasters indicate that the region could experience additional rain amounting to 1/2 inch to 1 inch on Saturday morning, potentially leading to minor flooding of roads and streams. “Heavy rain may cause temporary flooding in areas with poor drainage,” said a weather expert from the National Weather Service.

Rain, accompanied by occasional thunder, is expected to continue throughout the morning before tapering off in the afternoon. Temperatures are forecasted to hover in the 50s, with some clearing and sunshine expected later in the day. This shift in weather is anticipated as a cold front passes through the area.

Authorities advise drivers to be cautious, as visibility may decrease during heavier downpours. Minor flooding is also reported along small streams and rivers in southern Vermont, with the Otter Creek in Rutland already experiencing elevated water levels.

As the weekend progresses, Sunday is expected to bring clearer skies and a warmer Mother’s Day, with highs reaching the low 60s. Looking ahead, a significant pattern change will result in warmer temperatures in the 70s and 80s early next week as high pressure settles in.
