Ford Headquarters Relocation Dearborn

DEARBORN, Mich. – Ford Motor Co. is set to move its headquarters for the first time in 70 years, unveiling plans to relocate to a new campus in Dearborn. The announcement came on Sept. 15, 2025, as Ford introduced its new Henry Ford II World Center, a project aimed at modernizing its product development environment.

The new facility, which is still under construction, will occupy 2.1 million square feet and officially open in November. It will accommodate up to 4,000 employees and is located just three miles from the current headquarters, known as the Glass House, which has served as Ford’s operational center since 1956.

Ted Ryan, Ford’s heritage and brand manager, emphasized the need for a new space, stating, “The future of our industry demands a different kind of space – one that is more connected, more flexible, and built for the speed of a technology- and software-driven company.”

The new campus will feature six design studios, a 160,000-square-foot food hall, and over 300 tech-enabled meeting rooms. Ford aims to enhance collaboration by colocating corporate leaders with engineering and design teams, placing 14,000 employees within a 15-minute walk of the main building.

When the new headquarters opens, the Glass House will be decommissioned and demolished over an 18-month period. The site will be repurposed in collaboration with the city of Dearborn, as Ford seeks to ensure that it serves both employees and local residents effectively.

Ryan noted the significance of Dearborn to the Ford legacy, stating, “Dearborn and Ford are almost synonymous. If you think of Dearborn, you think of Ford, and if you think of Ford, you think of Dearborn.”

Ford’s move reflects broader industry changes, as General Motors also prepares to relocate its headquarters from its iconic site along the Detroit River to a new facility in downtown Detroit.
