Former Crypto Billionaire Sam Bankman Fried Makes Unexpected Friends In Prison

Former cryptocurrency mogul Sam Bankman-Fried, awaiting sentencing for the collapse of FTX, has struck an unlikely friendship behind bars. A recent photo reveals Bankman-Fried with fellow inmates, including G Lock from the Bloods, at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

In an interview with journalist Michelle Fong, G Lock described Bankman-Fried as ‘a good guy’ but noted his ‘strange’ and ‘weird’ behavior. Despite rumors, G Lock clarified that the FTX founder isn’t being targeted by other inmates.

G Lock also remarked on Bankman-Fried’s physical transformation, noting his significant weight loss during his time in detention. Drawing comparisons to rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, G Lock praised Bankman-Fried for not ‘snitching,’ dubbing him ‘more gangster than Tekashi 6ix9ine.’

Bankman-Fried, who was on house arrest before his incarceration, lived on the Stanford University campus under the care of his parents, Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried. After a judge revoked his bond for allegedly intimidating witnesses, he was moved to MDC.

Bankman-Fried’s trial, which concluded with his conviction on multiple fraud charges, marked the fall from grace for the once-celebrated crypto entrepreneur. Once hailed as a prodigy in the industry, he now faces a potential 110-year sentence, scheduled for March 28.
