Former Gladiators Star To Return To Soccer Field In Soccer Aid For Unicef

Diamond, also known as Livi Sheldon, a former star of the hit TV gameshow Gladiators, is set to make a return to the soccer field in the upcoming Soccer Aid for UNICEF charity match.

The 30-year-old Sheldon, who was previously a midfielder for Worcester City, transitioned into body-building before joining the revamped Gladiators series earlier this year.

Selected to play in Soccer Aid alongside football legends like Usain Bolt, Alessandro del Piero, and Roberto Carlos, Sheldon is excited to showcase her skills and support UNICEF.

Created by Robbie Williams and Jonathan Wilkes, Soccer Aid has raised over $115 million for UNICEF UK through ticket sales and public donations since its inception in 2006.

Having played soccer from a young age, Sheldon is thrilled to be back on the field after a hiatus, with Worcester City providing her with training opportunities for the match.

Sheldon reflects on the increased opportunities for young girls in soccer today, especially following England‘s victory in the UEFA Women's Euro 2022.

As one of the few six-foot-tall female players, Sheldon sees her height as an advantage in the game and hopes to inspire other tall girls to pursue their passion for soccer.

Despite facing bullying in her youth, Sheldon found solace in soccer, which helped boost her confidence and provide a sense of community.

After stepping away from soccer, Sheldon discovered a love for body-building, participating in competitions and shaping her physique to her liking.

Now, invited to participate in Soccer Aid, Sheldon views it as a full-circle moment, highlighting the importance of supporting children’s opportunities to play sports.

Among the star-studded lineup, Sheldon looks forward to meeting former England international Karen Carney on the field.

Money raised from Soccer Aid will aid UNICEF in various initiatives, including protecting children from disease, malnutrition, and supporting those in crisis-hit regions like Gaza, Sudan, and Ukraine.

Viewers are encouraged to tune in and make donations during the event to support UNICEF’s vital work for children worldwide.

With a deep personal connection to the impact of sports on children’s lives, Sheldon emphasizes the significance of providing a safe space for all children to engage in sports.

Donations to Soccer Aid for UNICEF can be made on the event’s official website.
