Former LSU Football Player Arrested for Illegal Online Gambling

Former LSU football player Kayshon Boutte has been arrested on charges related to illegal online gaming, according to Louisiana State Police. The arrest comes after a lengthy investigation into Boutte’s alleged creation of an online betting account under a fictitious name and illegal gambling while he was underage.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Boutte had won over $500,000 through illegal bets, most of which were used to place additional wagers. He is currently listed on the roster of the New England Patriots, where he played in five games last season.

Boutte allegedly placed nearly 9,000 illegal wagers, including two bets on at least one LSU football game in which he played. The arrest warrant states that he used a fictitious name, Kayla Fortenberry, to create the online gaming account and used his mother’s credit card to fund it.

According to the warrant, seventeen wagers were made on NCAA football, including six on LSU football, from August 2022 to October 2023. One of the bets was on a game in which Boutte played, LSU versus Florida State, where he bet on himself to score a touchdown and have over 82.5 receiving yards.

Kayshon Boutte, a native of New Iberia and a graduate of Westgate High School, spent three years as a wide receiver for the LSU Tigers, appearing in 27 games with 21 starts.

LSU has issued a statement acknowledging the allegations and stating that they have fully cooperated with the authorities in the investigation. They have found no evidence of other student-athletes participating in similar activities.

The New England Patriots have confirmed that Boutte is cooperating with the Louisiana police and that they are aware of the investigation. They do not anticipate making any further comments on the matter.
