Former LSU Star Kyren Lacy Wanted for Negligent Homicide in Fatal Crash
Louisiana State Police have issued an arrest warrant for former LSU football standout Kyren Lacy, who is wanted on charges of negligent homicide and felony hit-and-run following a fatal traffic crash on December 17, 2024. The crash, which occurred on LA Highway 20, resulted in the death of a 78-year-old former Marine, Herman Hall, and injured two others.
According to investigators, Lacy, 24, was driving a 2023 Dodge Charger southbound when he allegedly recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high speed in a designated no-passing zone. As Lacy crossed the centerline into the northbound lane, a pickup truck swerved to avoid a head-on collision, causing a chain reaction that led to a head-on crash between a Kia Cadenza and a Kia Sorrento. Lacy reportedly fled the scene without stopping to render aid or report the incident.
Herman Hall, a passenger in the Kia Sorrento, was critically injured and later died at a hospital. Lacy, a native of Thibodaux, Louisiana, is also facing charges of reckless operation of a vehicle. The former LSU wide receiver declared for the NFL Draft just two days after the crash.
Lacy had a standout career at LSU, leading the team in receiving touchdowns (9) during the 2024 season and ranking second in catches (58) and receiving yards (866). Over his five-year collegiate career at the University of Louisiana and LSU, he recorded 162 catches for 2,360 yards and 26 touchdowns.
Louisiana State Police said detectives and troopers identified Lacy as the driver of the Dodge Charger involved in the crash. Authorities are urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward.
