Kevin Ware Jr. Court Sentencing Houston

HOUSTON, Texas — Former NFL player Kevin Ware Jr. was sentenced to 30 years in prison on May 7, 2025, for the murder of his girlfriend, Taylor Pomaski, in 2021.

Ware, 41, reached a plea deal with prosecutors, admitting to the killing of his girlfriend, who was 29 years old at the time of her disappearance. Pomaski was last seen on April 25, 2021, at a party in her home.

Authorities reported that Pomaski vanished under suspicious circumstances. In December 2021, remains found in the area were identified as hers. Following her disappearance, Ware faced multiple legal troubles, including arrests for drug and weapons charges.

After being indicted for murder and tampering with evidence related to Pomaski’s death in July 2021, Ware’s case drew significant media attention. Court documents revealed details of how Ware killed Pomaski, stating he used a knife, a blunt object, and strangled her before disposing of her body.

Prior to his legal issues, Ware had a brief NFL career, playing for the Washington Redskins and the San Francisco 49ers. He never officially played for the Oakland Raiders after joining their preseason squad in 2005.

Ware’s plea and sentencing mark a significant conclusion to a tragic case that shocked the Houston community.
