Former Nigerian Tennis Champion Found Mentally Unstable And Begging On The Streets

A former Nigerian tennis champion, Jacqueline Okwueze, has been discovered wandering the streets of Awka, Anambra State, in a mentally unstable condition. Jacqueline, who represented Nigeria in tennis during the 1990s, is of mixed heritage, with a Belarusian mother and an Igbo father.

In a heart-wrenching video shared on social media, the former tennis star can be seen begging for money and drinks, visibly distressed and nursing a wound on her left leg.

During a conversation with an unidentified man in the video, Jacqueline reveals that she is a former lawn tennis player who feels neglected and abandoned. She discloses that she has been labeled a prostitute by people in the area and has been asked to return to her home country, but she still considers herself an Igbo lady.

In need of assistance, Jacqueline expresses her plans to return to her village the following day to care for her daughter.

She says, “I was a former lawn tennis champion in Nigeria. I don’t know if you are familiar with Tanya Okpala and Jacqueline Okwueze during those days. I played tennis for Nigeria and Africa.”

Concerning her health, when questioned about any recreational center she might be attending, Jacqueline declines to answer, stating, “I think if somebody is very mentally sick, I don’t think it is my business how the person is taking care of himself or herself.”

This distressing video has raised concerns and sympathy from the online community, as fans and Nigerians express shock and sadness seeing their once-revered champion in such a desperate state.
