Former Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture Zizi Kodwa and former EOH executive Jehan Mackay are currently appearing at the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court facing corruption charges.

Kodwa’s involvement in the State Capture Commission has revealed alleged payments amounting to nearly R1.7 million from EOH executive Jehan Mackay between 2014 and 2015, during Kodwa’s tenure as the ANC spokesperson.

The State Capture Commission report suggests that EOH Group and its affiliates made payments to Kodwa for personal benefit, suspected to influence tenders with the City of Johannesburg.

Despite receiving luxury accommodation and monetary transactions, Kodwa maintains that the payments were loans to support his financial position at the time.

Mackay’s correspondence with Kodwa involved discussions regarding potential ANC donations and involvement in state-related tenders, including the Department of Home Affairs.

The report raised concerns over Kodwa’s possible influence in government tenders due to his position and affiliations.
