Fox Channels Face Blackout on YouTube TV After Contract Dispute

LOS ANGELES, CA — As the 2025 NFL season approaches, YouTube TV subscribers are on edge due to a looming contract dispute with Fox Corp. YouTube TV announced today that Fox’s content could be unavailable as early as August 27, 2025, at 5 PM ET.
Fox expressed disappointment in a statement regarding the negotiations, saying, “We are alerting Fox viewers who are YouTube TV subscribers that they could lose access to much of their favorite news, sports, entertainment, and local station programming unless Google engages in a meaningful way soon.”
YouTube TV’s response indicated that they are actively negotiating to continue offering Fox’s channels, stating, “Our priority is to reach a deal that’s fair for both sides and allows us to preserve the value of our service.” The service mentioned it would offer a $10 credit to subscribers if the blackout occurs.
The channels potentially affected include Fox Sports, Fox News, Fox Business, and various local Fox channels. Upcoming NFL matchups on September 7, such as the San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks, could be at risk if a deal isn’t reached.
YouTube TV recently avoided a similar blackout with Paramount Global earlier this year. With the NFL season just around the corner, the urgency to resolve this issue is paramount.
Fox urged customers to stay informed through its website, keepfox.com, as the deadline approaches.
