LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson, former prominent reporters for FOX Sports, are considering their next steps following the expiration of their contracts after Super Bowl LIX. The duo aims for more relaxed roles in local news, favoring a balance between work and life while keeping the door open for future opportunities at major networks.

Andrews, 46, expressed optimism for her future after her contract ended post-Super Bowl, where the Philadelphia Eagles triumphed over the Kansas City Chiefs on February 9. Having joined FOX Sports from ESPN in 2012, she finds herself amongst several reporters facing uncertainty in the offseason.

In a recent episode of the Calm Down Podcast, Thompson shared insights into their shared vision for retirement and potential future careers. “Erin and I also have an affinity for local news,” Thompson noted. “There’s going to be a time in our lives where we hope it’s a retirement community in Florida, and we can work a couple of days a week.”

Both Andrews and Thompson are transitioning away from the high-pressure environment of national sports broadcasting. They are now interested in pursuing opportunities that allow them to engage with the community without the relentless demands of major sporting events.

For Andrews, a key priority in her post-broadcasting career is avoiding early morning commitments. She emphasized the importance of organizing her time to spend more moments with her family while still contributing to new projects of personal significance.

Although Andrews is contemplating a more laid-back professional life, she has not ruled out a return to FOX or another major network such as NBC, ESPN, or NFL Network, especially if they would match her previous $2 million salary. “I really hope I’m still employed by FOX when FOX gets a Vegas Super Bowl,” Andrews stated. “This is epic; it’s Tuesday, it’s nutty…”

The landscape for media professionals can be daunting, but Andrews and Thompson appear poised to optimize their next chapter, seeking opportunities that provide satisfaction in both their personal and professional lives.
