1,400 Frisco Homes Lose Power Amid Arctic Cold Front
FRISCO, Texas — A power outage left 1,400 households in Frisco without electricity Monday morning as an arctic cold front swept through North Texas. The outage, affecting CoServ customers, occurred in an area bordered by Main Street, Legacy Drive, Stonebrook Parkway, and FM423, according to a social media post from the city of Frisco.
Power was expected to be restored by 9 a.m., officials said. The outage was first detected around 6:45 a.m., and most customers had their service restored within an hour. The cause of the outage is still under investigation, though high winds accompanying the cold front are suspected to be a contributing factor.
Wind gusts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area reached 30-35 mph overnight Sunday into Monday, with some parts of Denton and Collin counties experiencing gusts nearing 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth. The NWS also warned of freezing temperatures and potential snowfall later in the week, with up to 4 inches of snow possible in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and some areas potentially receiving up to half a foot.
