Winter Coat Donation Drive For Homeless

MOSSLEY, England — A local funeral director is rallying the community to help keep homeless and vulnerable people warm this winter. Anthony Barton, owner of Anthony Barton Independent Family Funeral Service, has launched his second annual u2018Got Your Backu2019 coat donation drive, seeking warm winter coats for adults and children.

Last yearu2019s appeal collected around 60 coats, providing essential warmth to those in need. With recent cold weather gripping the region, Barton felt compelled to bring back the initiative. u201cI am asking for anyone who could be so kind to donate warm winter coats for both adults and children,u201d Barton told The Correspondent. u201cThe coats will make a real difference to the homeless and vulnerable.u201d

Donated coats must be in good condition, clean, and have functioning zips. Barton emphasized the importance of community generosity, saying, u201cPeopleu2019s generosity can help keep those experiencing homelessness warm.u201d

Coats can be dropped off at Anthony Barton Independent Family Funeral Service, located at 63 Stamford Street in Mossley, opposite Mossley Fire Station. All donations will be distributed by u2018Street Treats,u2019 a Tameside-based volunteer group founded in 2013 by Daryl Pollitt. The organization provides food and clothing to homeless individuals.

This initiative is the latest in Bartonu2019s efforts to support the local community. Previous projects include seasonal hunts for children and a u2018Letters to Heavenu2019 postbox to help bereaved individuals process their grief.
