On this day, the worship of Lord Mahadev and the World Mother Goddess Parvati is done. Married women observe fasts and offer prayers on this occasion.

In Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan especially, women perform the Ganagaur Vrat for the well-being and longevity of their husbands. It is believed that by observing this fast, all the wishes of the devotee are fulfilled. Therefore, on the third day of Chaitra Navratri, women perform the puja of the Shiv family with faith.
