MOTT HAVEN, New York – A gas explosion occurred in a building on Alexander Avenue at East 137th and East 135th Streets on Monday afternoon, as confirmed by the Fire Department of New York (FDNY).

Witnesses in the neighborhood indicated that the blast originated from the boiler and the section of the building where the pipes run. Brittany Cadet, a local resident, mentioned that the section where the explosion took place is critical, as it houses essential pipes.
In addition to the explosion, residents have noted a strong smell of gas lingering around the area, raising further concerns about safety.
