Gas Main Rupture Closes Industrial Drive in Mishawaka
MISHAWAKA, Ind. (WNDU) — A third-party gas main rupture at 1015 E. 12th Street in Mishawaka has forced the closure of Industrial Drive and impacted six industrial customers, according to Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO).
The incident occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. EST on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025. NIPSCO crews and supervisors were immediately dispatched to the scene to ensure safety and begin repairs.
“Our priority is to secure the area and restore service as quickly and safely as possible,” a NIPSCO spokesperson said. The company has not provided an estimated time for when repairs will be completed.
Industrial Drive remains closed as crews work to address the issue. NIPSCO has not disclosed the cause of the rupture or the extent of the damage. Local authorities are assisting with traffic control and safety measures.
