Georgia Tech to Host Tennessee at Bobby Dodd Stadium in 2026
Atlanta, GA — Georgia Tech football has announced that the Yellow Jackets will host the Tennessee Volunteers in 2026 at Bobby Dodd Stadium. The game, scheduled for September 12, 2026, marks the beginning of a two-game series between the two schools.
The decision was confirmed on Friday, continuing Georgia Tech’s tradition of playing home games at its historic stadium. Earlier discussions suggested the game might take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons, but feedback from fans strongly favored a true home game experience at Bobby Dodd.
Ryan Alpert, Georgia Tech’s vice president and director of athletics, expressed gratitude to the fans for their input on the decision-making process. “We’re especially excited for Georgia Tech students and fans, as having another home football weekend against a highly regarded opponent like Tennessee will enhance the student experience next fall,” he said.
The return trip to Knoxville for Georgia Tech is scheduled for September 11, 2027. This series comes as both teams strengthen their schedules with high-profile matchups against notable programs.
This season, the Yellow Jackets are enjoying a strong campaign, boasting an 8-0 record and leading the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) with a perfect 5-0 mark. Remaining this season are critical games against NC State, Boston College, Pitt, and their traditional rivals, Georgia.
Notably, both schools will feature new quarterbacks when they meet in 2026. Tennessee’s Joey Aguilar and Georgia Tech’s Haynes King are expected to conclude their eligibility after this season, paving the way for fresh faces on the field.
Georgia Tech also has future commitments lined up with other opponents, including a neutral-site game against West Virginia in Charlotte in 2028 and a home-and-home series against Washington in 2029 and 2030.
