8th Grader Arrested for Weapons at Cobb Middle School

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — An 8th-grade student has been arrested for allegedly bringing multiple weapons onto the grounds of Cobb Middle School, according to the Leon County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO).
The incident occurred on April 16 during a class transition, when the student was reportedly seen using an object resembling a pencil to cut another student’s backpack. School administration acted quickly, conducting a search of the student’s belongings once the incident was reported.
During the search of the student’s backpack, staff discovered a mini stun gun. Further investigation revealed a blue case containing a craft carving kit, which the student admitted to using for the backpack incident. The carving kit was found to contain several razor blades of varying shapes and sizes, alongside handles designed to hold them.
As a result of the investigation, the student now faces two counts of Possession of Weapon on School Property. Following the arrest, he was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
The sheriff’s office has not released any further details about the student, nor any potential disciplinary actions from the school.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns about school safety and the presence of weapons on educational grounds. Parents and the community have been urged to speak to their children about the serious implications of bringing weapons to school.
LCSO and local educators continue to emphasize the importance of vigilance and reporting any suspicious behavior to maintain a safe learning environment for students.
