Grant Ellis Returns as The Bachelor Season 29 Premieres with 25 Contestants
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The 29th season of ABC’s hit reality dating show, *The Bachelor*, premiered on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, with Grant Ellis, a 31-year-old day trader from New Jersey, stepping into the spotlight as the lead. Ellis, who first appeared on Jenn Tran’s season of *The Bachelorette*, is the second Black male lead in the franchise’s history.
Ellis, known for his infectious smile and positive demeanor, is seeking a partner who shares his values of loyalty, humor, and an appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. “As the Bachelor, Ellis is eager to embark on a journey filled with romance, adventure, and genuine connections,” his official bio states.
This season features 25 contestants, aged 21 to 31, from diverse backgrounds and professions. Hailing from locations such as Canada, Puerto Rico, and various U.S. states, the women include a pediatric speech therapist, a venture capitalist, a mechanical engineer, and a wedding planner, among others.
In the second episode, airing on Monday, Feb. 3, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, Ellis and the contestants continue their quest for love in Los Angeles. The episode promises drama, jealousy, and romantic dates that tap into Ellis’ love of sports, music, and playful energy. Alexe, who received the first-impression rose, will go on a one-on-one date with Ellis.
Since its debut in 2002, *The Bachelor* has become a cultural phenomenon, spawning multiple spinoffs, including *The Bachelorette*, *Bachelor in Paradise*, and *The Golden Bachelor*. The show’s format, which involves eliminating contestants through rose ceremonies, has captivated audiences for over two decades.
Viewers can stream the new season live on platforms like Hulu, FuboTV, and DirecTV Stream. Earlier seasons, including Season 28, are also available for streaming on Hulu.
