LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Firefighters swiftly contained a half-acre grass fire in Griffith Park on Monday afternoon, as the region remained under a Particularly Dangerous Situation weather warning. The blaze, reported around 1 p.m., broke out on a hillside below the East Griffith Observatory Trail.

Aerial footage captured crews on the ground and firefighting aircraft working to control the flames. The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed the fire was knocked down quickly, with no structures threatened or injuries reported.

The incident occurred as Southern California braced for extreme weather conditions. A high wind warning is in effect through Tuesday, with gusts in some areas potentially reaching up to 100 mph. However, KCAL News meteorologist Paul Deanno noted that wind speeds in the Griffith Park area remained between 15 to 25 mph during the fire response.

Griffith Park, a popular recreational area spanning over 4,300 acres, has experienced wildfires in the past. The park’s rugged terrain and dry vegetation often pose challenges for firefighting efforts, particularly during periods of high winds.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid outdoor activities that could spark fires, such as using power tools or parking on dry grass. The Los Angeles region remains on high alert as the weather system continues to impact the area.
