Gypsy Rose Blanchard Opens Up About Her Mother’s Murder and Personal Struggles in New Memoir

Gypsy Rose Blanchard, a woman who gained national attention for her involvement in the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, has recently released a new memoir titled “My Time to Stand.” In this book, Blanchard delves into the disturbing details of her life, including the day her mother was killed in 2015. Blanchard’s mother, Dee Dee, had subjected her to a lifetime of abuse and fabricated illnesses as part of Munchausen syndrome by proxy.

Blanchard recounts the harrowing experience of hearing her mother’s screams during the final moments of her life. Her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, was the one who stabbed Dee Dee to death. Blanchard spent eight years in prison for her role in the murder, a period she reflects on in her memoir.

Ahead of her book’s release, Blanchard expressed concerns about potentially relapsing into drug use after her release from prison last December. Her memoir is a candid account of her struggles and her journey towards healing and standing up for herself.

On December 13, Blanchard will be meeting readers and signing copies of her memoir at The Garden District Book Shop in New Orleans. This event marks one of her first public appearances since her release from prison).
