Hailee Steinfeld Begins Recording for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Hailee Steinfeld, the voice of Gwen Stacy in Sony’s acclaimed Spider-Verse franchise, has provided an exciting update regarding the upcoming film, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Speaking in an interview this week, Steinfeld confirmed that she has started recording her voice lines for the much-anticipated sequel, which is set to hit theaters on June 4, 2027.
“We’re well into that thing,” said Steinfeld during a conversation with Josh Horowitz for MTV. She emphasized the importance of trusting the creative process, stating, “If there’s one thing I’ve learned with that, it’s that. You put it in their hands, and you’re going to end up with something masterful. You just gotta go with it.” Her positive outlook comes after a series of delays that left fans eagerly anticipating when they would see the continuation of Miles Morales‘ story.
The Spider-Verse saga began with the groundbreaking animated film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, released in 2018, winning an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. This was followed by Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in 2023, which further explored the multiverse with multiple Spider-People. Beyond the Spider-Verse is expected to conclude this thrilling narrative arc, which left audiences on a cliffhanger with Miles Morales trapped in an alternate universe.
In the latest installment, Gwen Stacy gathers a formidable team to rescue him, including beloved characters like Peter B. Parker, Spider-Man India, and others. Details concerning the film’s plot remain scarce, but with a star-studded voice cast, excitement continues to build among fans. In addition to Steinfeld, Shameik Moore is also reprising his role as Miles Morales, alongside other familiar voices like Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker and Oscar Isaac as Spider-Man 2099.
Nonetheless, Steinfeld reassured fans that the production is moving forward, despite the long wait. The film is being helmed by directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson, with a screenplay penned by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and David Callaham. Producers for the film include Lord and Miller alongside Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Jinko Gotoh.
As the world of animation evolves, the graphical style and quality expected from the Spider-Verse franchise set a high bar. This level of craftsmanship contributes to the prolonged development times for animated features, and fans may anticipate an impressive visual experience when Beyond the Spider-Verse finally releases. In recent weeks, Sony Animation has confirmed the film’s release date, reigniting interest and enthusiasm in the highly dedicated fanbase.
Steinfeld’s update is promising, reminding fans that great storytelling often takes time. As anticipation builds towards its release, the Spider-Verse saga’s legacy as a pioneering animated series is likely to continue, blending heartwarming narratives with stunning artistry.
