Almost half of the Australian adult population is anticipated to purchase a ticket for tonight’s monumental $150 million Powerball jackpot, making it one of the largest lottery offers in the history of Australian lotteries. The previous record, a $160 million jackpot in 2022 shared among three winners, holds the top spot.

The Lott spokesperson, James Eddy, shared that thousands of entries are expected to be generated every minute at both lottery outlets and online platforms. This has fueled a rush leading up to the draw, marking the second-largest jackpot ever offered by any Australian lotteries game.

Eddy’s advice to lottery players vying for a shot at the massive prize is to secure their entry early and to not wait until the last minute. The clock is ticking, and as the anticipation builds, Australians are dreaming about the potential life-altering changes that would come with winning a slice of the division one pie.

In 2023 alone, there were 20 division one-winning Powerball entries across Australia that amounted to more than $552.15 million. New South Wales recorded the highest number with eight wins, followed by Victoria with seven, and South Australia and Western Australia with two each. Queensland secured a single win in the same period.

The draw for the $150 million Powerball jackpot is scheduled to close at 7.30pm AEST today.
